FGDC metadata are available for browsing, indexed by the following categories:

• Discovery Keywords - Data categories.
• Place Keywords - Geographic names of locations covered by a data set. Place keywords are chosen by the metadata authors. They include both controlled vocabularies from specific thesauri and uncontrolled vocabularies, which may include any word or phrase that the metadata author considers to be appropriate.
  • Place Keywords - Multiple Pages, alphabetically
  • Place Keywords - Single Page (large)
• Theme Keywords - Common-use words or phrases used to describe the subject of the data set. Theme keywords are chosen by the metadata authors. They include both controlled vocabularies from specific thesauri and uncontrolled vocabularies, which may include any word or phrase that the metadata author considers to be appropriate.
  • Theme Keywords - Multiple Pages, alphabetically
  • Theme Keywords - Single Page (large)
• Place Locations - These are based on intersections of the metadata bounding boxes and polygons describing geospatial locations of reefs and seas.

  • Reefs - Multiple Pages, alphabetically
  • Seas
